Age of Empires 2: The Conquerors – a large-scale addition to the original second part of the game Age of Empires II. It was developed by the same creators, so it is official and complete, correcting most of the problems of the game, and making changes to the balance of the gameplay. The original contained 5 campaigns for various historical figures – William Wallace, Saladin, Genghis Khan, Frederick the First Barbarossa and Joan of Arc. The first of them is a tutorial, where the game assistant talks about all the mechanics that are involved in the project. All presented campaigns contain 6 scenarios with ever-increasing complexity due to a decrease in initial capital and an increase in the strength of the enemy’s artificial intelligence.

The “Conquerors” add-on introduces 3 more storylines to the game, based on famous events from the lives of the commanders Attila, El Cid and Montezuma II, as well as one collection of missions in which the gamer will take part in historical battles in different parts of the globe. This list includes the following battles: Poitiers, Manzikert, Lepanto, Yamazaki, Noryangjin, Hastings, and so on. Each of them takes place in authentic locations, created according to information preserved from the past. Also, the latest campaign series tells about the life path of Eric the Red, a Scandinavian explorer who sailed the seas in order to find new territories.
