Strategic project Age of Wonders 4 allows the user to once again plunge into the atmosphere of planning and bloody battles for supremacy in an imaginary universe, where edged weapons and magic are the main arguments both on the battlefield and in the diplomatic plane. The title continues the glorious traditions of the popular franchise and complements them with new mechanics, graphics and engine improvements. The world around us is filled with influential states ruled by rulers with magical talents and skills. For centuries, countries have been isolated and preparing for a decisive clash, and now the hour has come.

At the beginning of Age of Wonders 4, the gamer chooses the side of a potential conflict, basing his choice on the race, its characteristics and indicators. For example, in the depths of caves, an association of aggressive green monsters is being created, and in lush forests, proud and high elves are planning to declare an empire. Next, the user finds himself on an extensive map, where there is room to roam. The vastness of the mantas' territories are unexplored zones, and the eye is distracted by the variability of actions.

Random events often occur that affect not only the immediate future, but also the entire course of the single-player campaign. The protagonist needs to build the armed forces and strengthen their defense capabilities, not forgetting about providing industry and the economy with money and useful materials. Diplomacy helps to delay the war and find friends and loyal allies among the wastelands, supporting them in all endeavors and adversities. Battles take place in a step-by-step mode, where the user has time to think.
