IN Aragami Players will be reincarnated as the titular vengeful spirit, summoned by a girl named Yamiko to liberate the occupied city fortress of Kyuryu. As a dark spiritual entity, the protagonist possesses several so-called shadow abilities, most of which require the use of a shadow entity. It is replenished when the character hides in the shadows, and is depleted during the activation of a super ability or prolonged exposure to bright light. However, some of the more powerful abilities require charges, which can be replenished at shrines.

Shadow abilities are both offensive and defensive. Some are unlocked as you progress through Aragami chapters, while most are unlocked by spending skill points, which can be obtained by collecting scrolls scattered throughout the 13 levels. A selectable superpower option allows you to create and enhance your own playstyle with abilities ranging from evil dragons that drag Kaiho's powers into obscurity and black holes that grant temporary invisibility.

However, the main ability of the character is Shadow Leap, which allows you to teleport from one shadow to another, thanks to which you can travel around the world invisible and at a fast pace. Killing every Kaiho guard can be a tricky stealth puzzle, forcing you to make full use of the superpowers at your disposal as well as relying on stealth skills, while getting through the stealth level can be an equally challenging task.

At the end of each chapter, gamers score points and receive up to 3 medals:

• Yurei is awarded for the player managing to remain undetected;
• They are awarded for destroying all enemies on the level;
• Kami rewards those who have not harmed the soul.
