IN Avorion the main character is a resident of an unusual galaxy. At its center is hyperdimensional matter. Not a single spaceship in hundreds of years has been able to approach the central part. It is known that Xotans live near matter. They are the only ones able to cross it thanks to the Avorion metal. Due to the formation of an impassable ring, similar smaller faults appeared in different parts of the galaxy. The protagonist begins to develop a space base on the outskirts of the star system. The goal is to establish contact with the Xotans and learn to cross hyperdimensional matter.

The protagonist in Avorion needs to build a ship that can deliver him to the center of the galaxy. There's an editor for that. There are blocks for construction. By default, the hero receives a drone. It can be used to study asteroids and mine iron ore from them. Metal is necessary for crafting electricity generators, solar panels and other devices.

A full-fledged ship must have a cabin for sleep and rest, a docking module, and a cargo compartment. It is possible to decorate the ship with decorative blocks. By creating new blocks, the characteristics of the device are improved. You can upgrade speed, protection, power, weight, and energy saving. At first, the character travels alone. Having saved money, it is possible to hire staff. They ask for wages every day. Each employee needs a separate cabin.
