Beyond: Two Souls – an adventure action game in the form of an interactive movie from the masters of their craft who previously released Heavy Rain. For their next project, a studio called Quantic Dream invited famous actors – William Dafoe and Ellen Page. They played the two main roles in the central storyline of the single-player campaign – Nathan Dawkins and Jodie Holmes, respectively. In addition to them, during the development of the story, the gamer will become acquainted with more than a dozen characters with different fates – army men, secret agents, homeless people, cafe workers, bikers, and so on.

The main feature of the gameplay is the paranormal connection of the main character with the otherworldly spirit of her unborn brother, who was given the name Aiden. He is constantly next to the girl, moving in the astral world, having the ability to influence surrounding objects around Jodie. The gameplay consists mainly of performing quick time events, taking place both in dynamic scenes of battles and self-defense, and in everyday activities, such as cleaning the house, playing the guitar and the like.

The narrative in “Beyond: Two Souls” follows a non-linear format. The gamer moves from one time arc to another at the behest of the game, without the ability to independently choose the timeline. The player has a direct influence on the eventual ending by choosing certain actions at crucial moments.
