Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Ultimate Edition is a dark and at the same time bright reimagining of the Castlevania mythology. The action takes place in a fantasy version of medieval Europe. The main character, Gabriel Belmont, is a warrior of the Holy Order, who considers his main goal to be the protection of the whole world from evil spirits and evil. They successfully restrained the dark forces, but lately this has become increasingly difficult. The elders learned of a prophecy that said that victory could only be achieved if a certain valiant warrior took away all the power from the three powerful shadow lords and used it for the benefit of humanity. Gabriel was chosen for this role, who, in addition to the main task, wants to bring his late wife back to life.

On average, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow gameplay takes 15 hours to complete. Where you have to explore locations, fight monsters and solve quite complex puzzles (twist giant rings, redirect rays of light, play unusual chess and even arrange a solar eclipse). To achieve victory in a fight, you must competently combine skills using the power of strength, endurance and dexterity. Combat primarily centers around the use of a retractable chain whip called the Combat Cross, involving the Cry of Innocence. The whip is used not only in combat, but also for exploration purposes, such as climbing walls and crossing chasms.

The enemies are drawn in all their terrifying glory, where vampires are not cute, cute creatures, but scary, harsh monsters, with brick muzzles, with many wrinkles and lips smeared with blood. There are quite a lot of evil spirits, goblins, trolls, vampires, sorcerers, Dr. Frankenstein. The design of the locations is well-designed; they are varied, rich, realistic and filled with various environmental objects. These are forests where the sun's rays shine through the foliage, waterfalls and high mountains covered with snow. Throughout, a pleasant soundtrack with a fantasy twist plays in the background.
