Coffin of Ashes takes the player to an ancient mansion that contains many mysterious phenomena and mystical secrets. There are two difficulty levels (easy, hard), which only affect enemies, increasing attack power and movement speed, while the plot and puzzles will remain the same. Control is supported from the keyboard and gamepad. The drawing is done in an anime style, where the heroines are beautiful girls with expressive eyes. Their appearance completely conveys the emotional picture of the character: sweet and charming, unapproachable and cold, naive and modest, etc. The textures of the levels are made in pleasant dark colors, with good lighting. There is a musical accompaniment represented by retro melodies, with a minimal amount of variety in the sound palette.

The main character is Daniila, she is a completely ordinary schoolgirl. Her class decided to go on a hike, but at the appointed time and place no one came except her. At this time, clouds had already begun to thicken in the sky, and the first drops of the upcoming torrential rain were falling on the asphalt. The girl had no choice but to hide in a house that was nearby. Coffin of Ash is all about finding items, putting the right things in your inventory and using them at the right time, solving puzzles, and introducing dialogue. Common items are automatically used when needed. You can move around the rooms on foot or by running, but you must always watch where the protagonist is going, because there are traps placed on the floor. While exploring the premises, the heroine often comments on what is happening, focusing on certain objects. Before starting any action, the game offers a choice whether to do it or not. Enemies can appear unexpectedly, taking her by surprise and instantly killing the girl.
