Frontline: Barbarossa is a military simulator set during World War II. Events begin in 1941 on June 22, when Moscow, Kyiv and Leningrad noticed the German army rushing towards them. Operation Barbarossa will be implemented only 4 years later, when the banner of the Red Army rises. The player is caught between two events and will participate in fierce clashes using infantry, aircraft and combat vehicles.

A special feature of Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin is the elaboration of each unit and equipment. The detail relates to the morale system, the characteristics of the available weapons, physical condition, wounds and experience. The project includes 20 campaigns and 146 secondary scenarios and maps for quick combat. Soldiers use equipment made in Italy, the USSR, Germany, Poland and other countries participating in the war. During a battle, changes in time of day or weather effects may occur, affecting visibility, movement speed, and other aspects.

The in-game editor contains hundreds of functions for designing an original scenario or map for a quick battle. The gamer can add hills and lowlands, destroyed buildings, natural objects, trenches and dozens of other conventions. Behavioral logic influences combat, focusing on equipment rating, hit points, and morale. The multiplayer uses the WeGo system, where two participants simultaneously command armies, and then watch a 60-second film without the ability to influence it.
