Crysis is an alien invasion game set in 2020. A team of archaeologists on a remote Pacific island is captured by North Korean invading forces, and a US Special Forces team is sent to rescue the scientists. Clad in high-tech nanosuits capable of enhancing strength, speed, and armor, as well as temporarily concealing themselves from the enemy, the player lands in a tropical paradise infested with enemies and whatnot, tearing both North Koreans and United States forces to shreds.

The first half of Crysis is essentially a sandbox game that places players in the middle of incredibly large levels and tasks them with challenges. How to accomplish them depends largely on the actions. For example, the task will be to get to a certain point on the map. You can carry it out by choosing a winding route, avoiding patrols, or try to break through, fearing the appearance of enemy reinforcements.

Using the Nanosuit, you can take on a Predator-style disguise to stalk North Korean patrols, picking off enemies one by one and watching as the survivors react in confusion. Increased speed and strength give you incredible mobility, so you can jump on the roofs of buildings or push enemy cars off cliffs. Gamers also have the ability to switch between different roles – from a stealthy assassin to an unstoppable warrior.

You will also have a variety of firearms at your disposal – assault rifles, shotguns and much more. One interesting aspect is that weapons can be repaired by adding scopes, silencers and grenade launchers if you can find them. Players will have to storm North Korean-controlled villages and bases, take part in an assault on a North Korean harbor and a tank battle in a tropical mountain valley, and even fight aliens!
