Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is a game that combines many genres, including a puzzle game, as well as a point-and-click adventure game made in a visual novel format. The plot of the game tells the story of 14 students who were selected to participate and study at a new elite school – the Peak of Hope Academy; Each of the students has outstanding skills in one area or another, in addition to the main character Makoto, who gets into the academy after winning a lottery. According to the rules of the Monokuba game, if a student wants to “graduate” from the academy alive, he must commit the murder of one of the other 13 participants, and the crime itself must remain unsolved. Every day, the participants gather at a class council, where they discuss what happened that day and, using logic and deduction, try to figure out under what circumstances the murder occurred and who is the culprit.

In the game Danganrompa: School of Hope and High School Students of Despair, the player will take part in a deadly game in the role of the average student Makoto Naegi, and investigate each of the murders that will occur at the Hope's Peak Academy and, of course, survive himself. In this strange place, a real survival game awaits students, where the current headmaster of the school, Monokuba (a teddy black and white bear), arranges a test for each of the students. As the player progresses, more and more details are revealed about what this school actually is and what is happening in the world in the meantime. The player will have to uncover the secret of the current director and leave the academy, simultaneously trying to save other students, because even after completing the game, the students understand that Monokuba is not going to let any of them out of the school alive…
