Actions Darksiders Genesis take place in the other world, where angels and demons reign. The balance in the universe is maintained by the Council, its orders have always been law. Everything changed when the Council members heard rumors that the Lord of Hell, Lucifer, was planning to give his charges special powers. To avoid disaster, rulers seek help. The main characters are two Horsemen – Discord and War. The Horsemen are warriors of the Nephilim race – the result of a vicious crossing of angels and demons. For their enormous strength, the warriors had to pay an equally enormous price – to kill their relatives, so that now there are only a few of them left. A pair of heroes go to Hell to neutralize Lucifer.

Single and cooperative modes are available for playthrough. In single player, the gamer will control one of the fighters with the ability to switch to another, and in co-op, each player will choose a character, and two protagonists will go through the story at the same time. On the way to the final, players will have to face different opponents. Each killed enemy drops a soul, which, if in sufficient quantity, can be used to improve characteristics and weapons. Discord wields firearms, while War uses the Chaos Eater sword. Each character also has active and passive abilities that can be upgraded or new ones discovered.
