Death to Spies allows you to find out how intelligence and counterintelligence operations took place in the history of the Soviet Union. Third person view of the game. The user controls Captain Semyon Strogov, an employee of SMERSH. This unit was created in 1943 to confront the Nazi intelligence services. SMERSH took part in the most dangerous and difficult combat missions. The action begins in 1951, when the Minister of State Security Viktor Abakumov is arrested.

• Yachmenev. The lieutenant colonel who interrogates Strogoff;
• Boris Polyakov. Works for USSR intelligence, target in Operation Beauty. Subject to either salvation or destruction;
• Jurgen Goldschmit and Reinhart Roerich. Objectives of Operation Beauty;
• Wenk Bartels, Andreas Mayer-Mader, Henry Knuth. Serve in the SS;
• Dietrich Meltzer. The main target in Operation Cannibal;
• Scott Bakker. US Army Colonel;
• Charles Brown. Physicist involved in a nuclear project;
• Adolf Steinglitz. One of the leaders of the Abwehr;
• Hans Himmel. Heads counterintelligence in the Abwehr;
• Volkov. Agent, formerly served in SMERSH, defector to Britain;
• Jurgen Resch. Colonel.

In the MGB building on Lubyanka, an investigator interrogates Semyon Strogov. From him the main character learns exactly what secret operations SMERSH carried out. The game contains a full range of techniques used by intelligence officers. This is mining the area with the help of special ammunition, silently eliminating the enemy, throwing knives, monitoring an object, distracting the right person, breaking doors. There are real vehicles and types of weapons from World War II.
