Detention combines quest and survival horror. The project is inspired by Chinese and Taiwanese culture and mythology. The game has pseudo-3D graphics. Users control two characters using the mouse. The camera is located on the side.

In an indie project, you need to find and read notes to understand the backstory. You also need to collect items and solve riddles to advance further. Most puzzles are based on applying a specific item from the inventory to the correct object. However, there are also more intricate puzzles. For example: there is a riddle where you need to use your ear for music. Access to new locations is gradually opening up. There are monsters in Detention. The hero and heroine (they are given alternate control by the user) do not know how to fight opponents. Therefore, the characters can only avoid meeting with enemies. They may try to hide and hold their breath to miss the enemy. There is also the opportunity to distract the attention of adversaries.

The game takes gamers to an alternative island of Taiwan in the 1960s. The action takes place during martial law. A schoolboy and a schoolgirl find themselves in an educational institution located in a mountainous region. Realizing that evil has settled in the high school, they try to escape from this place. This is a small project. It takes one or two evenings to complete.
