Dread Out is a psychological horror where, using modern gadgets, the heroine will be able to discover a previously unreal other world. Absolutely empty-looking locations and a generally depressing atmosphere are the main methods by which the game successfully instills horror. The player will not have to shoot to escape, since the character is not yet old enough to carry a weapon, and the only thing that can save him is vigilance and attention to detail.

The main character is a calm and cheerful schoolgirl who went on a study trip with her class. The excursion went well, and the relaxed schoolchildren return home. But the bus was knocked off its established route by an unknown force and as a result the transport ends up on the border of some abandoned city. There is not a soul around and only a dark fog obscures their further vision. There is no cell phone reception, and the GPS turned off as luck would have it. Then the teacher and a group of students decide to move deeper into this strange place in search of help. After all, someone must protect such a place from prying eyes. The protagonist successfully decides to take a camera with her to film their unusual adventure and, as a result, it becomes their only chance of salvation.

The main gameplay of DreadOut is based on the use of a mobile phone and a video camera on it. For some reason, the local monsters that populate the entire city are afraid of being photographed and therefore will avoid it in every possible way. In addition, with the help of a smartphone, the girl will be able to find various keys and notes that will help her uncover all the secrets of the ghostly town and find the way home.
