Gameplay Dwarf Fortress combines roguelike genre elements and a construction system. The player controls a team of dwarves capable of building and extracting resources to progress. Materials are needed to create an underground fortress. The action takes place in a procedurally generated game world. Each session starts from scratch, and over time, access to new buildings and opportunities will open.

The user will need to monitor several parameters, without which it is impossible to achieve victory. It is necessary to organize protection from opponents who constantly attack and increase their strength with each new run. By organizing the lives of the inhabitants, they will be able to build faster and extract more resources. The gameplay is impossible to win as there are no goals, but there is progression and unlocking of different mechanics and abilities.

3 modes in Dwarf Fortress:

• Fortress – offers to build and manage wards, designing a large fortress and repelling attacks from opponents. There is no final goal, but you will need to maintain the functioning of the castle and turn the only building into a progressive civilization.
• Adventure – the world is also procedurally generated, but the user controls the main character, and the gameplay is typical of a roguelike. While traveling around the territory, you can come across different fortresses that were built earlier in the main mode.
• Legends is a virtual book with a focus on storytelling. You can learn a lot of things about the world itself and the castles built, the creatures that live in the area and the features of nature.
