Empire: Total War – military strategy with turn-based battles, including tactical elements. This installment features classic gameplay for the Total War franchise, providing real-time battles with turn-based aspects. The player will have to take control of a certain state in order to expand borders and fight. The storyline events begin in 1700 and end in 1799, but after completion there is access to continue the session.

The user is able to participate in the battle in auto mode, without using the tactical zone. Victory depends on overall strength, and this function helps to minimize the time spent on battle if the enemy is obviously weak. More than 50 factions can take part in one match at the same time. Only some states become available for control, like Punjab, the United States, Norway and some others. The remaining sides are minor, but also have their own original features.

The setting allows the user to see brutal imperialism, the colonization of territories, the exploration of continents and long wars between various factions. The gamer is able to explore three parts of the world, like India, North America and Europe. There are also 4 areas with smaller locations, and these areas cannot be captured or inhabited by people. They are used for trade using ships.
