Envy the Dead takes the user to a post-apocalyptic world filled with crowds of bloodthirsty zombies, whose only goal is to catch up and kill the main character. In part, the game may resemble Left 4 Dead, which is similar in theme. At the very beginning of the race, 4 characters will be provided, each of which differs from the others in appearance, background and initial weapons. As you progress, you will be able to improve your protagonists, earning new levels, which will allow you to upgrade additional skills.

The more experienced a character becomes, the greater his health reserve, the speed of its recovery, or other characteristics. To protect yourself from enemies in Envy the Dead, you can use all kinds of weapons. Initially, only the starting area will be available, however, gradually it will be possible to explore others. The user can split the squad, sending participants to separate territories, or order them to act as a team.

When you go to each location, some event will occur. Perhaps the survivors will be able to find useful supplies. Or, it may be that the fighter was captured by bandits, and now you need to go to his aid. In addition, you will be able to meet additional characters, and as a result of communicating with them you will be able to take control of them.

You can explore undiscovered areas to find useful medical supplies, food and ammunition there. Food is necessary, since all heroes have a hunger scale, and if they do not receive the necessary nutrition, they will die from lack of strength. Treatments can be used to restore health. In addition to weapons, it will be possible to install all kinds of barricades to slow down the advance of enemies.
