Famicom Detective Club Part 2: The Girl who Stands Behind is the second game in the duology. Despite the number in the title, this is not a sequel, but a prequel. Both video games have separate stories, but they are connected in places. Here the plot contains references that will be clear to those who have completed the first part. In The Missing Heir, Detective Agency employee Utsugi lost his memory under mysterious circumstances. Despite amnesia, a private detective began to investigate the strange death of the head of the wealthy Ayashiro family and the disappearance of his main heir. In the prequel, the same hero, even before losing his memories, investigates the case of a ghost that began to appear in school classrooms. This ghost may be associated with the death of a person. The bloodhound has to find those responsible for the crime.

In Famicom Detective Club Part 2: The Girl who Stands Behind, the events take place not in the Japanese outback, but in a large city. Like the first game, this is a visual novel with quest elements. The protagonist can move between locations, select topics for conversation and remarks, interact with interactive objects, show the evidence found to NPCs, and so on. The release contains a remake. The original duology was released back in the 80s and did not go beyond Japan. The re-release acquired, albeit hand-drawn, but modern graphics in an anime style. The backgrounds here change depending on the time of day. And the interlocutors’ remarks are now voiced.
