Action game Far Cry 5 begins in a certain Hope County, where a greedy clergyman named Joseph Seed lives. He tells everyone that he was sent to Earth by the Lord God himself in order to save the inhabitants of the district from the Collapse, a global catastrophe that could lead to a real apocalypse. To this end, the mad priest founded a sect called the Gates of Eden, which he forced all the inhabitants in the area to enter, supposedly to lead humanity to sacred salvation. Allegedly, he wanted to fulfill his mission of leading people to a heavenly existence after death. In reality, Sid preached a militaristic doomsday cult.

Sid proudly began to be called Father and took control of the entire Hope County with the help of the 4 Messengers. These half-crazed people have converted a number of decommissioned missile silos into fortified bunkers where they intend to wait out the Collapse with the cult followers. The player takes on the role of a rookie cop who is part of a task force sent to arrest Sid. The residents of the district who oppose Sid include characters who join the fight with motives ranging from altruism to revenge, profit and boredom.

The good guys in Far Cry 5 are:

• Richard Dutch Roosevelt is a local survivalist with a deep distrust of Uncle Sam and a history of a series of arrests in the police and even a short stint in places not so remote.
• Herc Drubman Jr. is a not very smart, but very good-natured party animal who loves everything that can explode, making loud noises.
• Willis Huntley is a sociopathic CIA agent and patriot who actively recruits civilians for various secret missions and loves to give orders to everyone.
