fault – milestone one is part of a series of visual novels that tells the story of a princess named Selfina and her royal guard Ritona. During an organized attack, their homeland was destroyed, and only they managed to get out alive. Using teleportation, the heroes found themselves in a strange forest, where there was not a single sign of life or a hint of the presence of creatures. Trying to adapt to a new place, they intend to find out who organized the attack and what goal they were pursuing. These and many other details will be revealed as we get acquainted with the story.

Due to its genre, fault – milestone one does not have any special gameplay mechanics. All that is required of the player is to follow the development of the story, set out in numerous lines and dialogues between the characters. Events are presented in the form of static images that demonstrate various locations from the in-game world, including city streets, castles, forests and other places. Despite the fact that each time the system changes the personalities of Selfina, Ritone and other heroes, their facial expressions remain static and change only when moving to the next segment. Replies are displayed in a separate frame, where the name of the speaker is also indicated. It is interesting that when new terms or formulations appear in the plot, they are entered into the so-called encyclopedia.
