Fear the Dark Unknown: James – a video game in the genre of psychological horror. It tells the story of a young man named James. He comes from an ancient family that owned the Beresford mansion for 200 years. And for two centuries, this family suffered from a curse. An evil entity known as the Darkness tormented family members for decades, driving them to madness, illness, and death. The last one was James's father, and now the protagonist intends to deal with the family curse once and for all.

Fear the Dark Unknown: James is largely a throwback to the 90s, when the horror genre was just beginning to conquer the video game industry. For example, the main character has a firearm – but this does not make him omnipotent. Some enemies can be fought off, but the rest are best avoided by all means. James has a health bar that can be replenished with special first aid kits – but they are only present in a few places.

However, the developers took into account the wishes of those who like to feel like brave monster fighters. The game has 4 difficulty levels – on the easiest, the protagonist will have no trouble defeating even the strongest and most dangerous monsters. In addition to battles, there are also numerous puzzles. Some of them lead to solving plot mysteries, revealing the past of the main character's family. Others allow you to get to secret locations.
