FEZ is a non-standard platformer, in which, nevertheless, there was a place for mechanics familiar to this genre. Here, a character named Gomez falls under the control of users. Having previously been in three-dimensional space, he moves into a two-dimensional world, and, using his existing ability, goes on a journey to the ends of the world. The ability allows you to change the projection of the location by rotating the planes in any available direction.

Such mechanics in FEZ help you pass through some locations or simply view the world from different angles. For example, one of the segments asks you to get through a mini-labyrinth inside a rock. And in order to move along the available routes, you need to rotate the camera so that the character can take the next turn or climb a hill. Or, if Gomez can't reach a ledge in one plane, you need to change the angle and make it so that he can jump over the ledge from another. At the same time, the order in which locations appear is completely random, and each time the character will find himself in new situations. For example, he will need to jump over stone blocks hanging in the air or make his way across an island on which a huge lighthouse is located. But at the same time, there are no enemies, difficult quests or anything like that. Everything happens smoothly and unhurriedly, thanks to which the user can enjoy what is happening without haste and fuss.
