Events Final Fantasy 7 Classic take place in a fictional dystopian world filled with monsters, dragons and other hostile creatures. The sci-fi setting is intertwined with fantasy aspects to create a multi-faceted environment, technology, and backstory for the universe. The plot centers on the confrontation between the evil megacorporation Shin-Ra and a small team of eco-terrorists AVALANCHE.

The main character is a member of the squad and fights against opponents from an influential and wealthy corporation. Shin-Ra's activities quickly consume the energy of the planetary source, as a result of which the end of the world may occur. In the passage, the player controls a group of several characters and the main character Cloud Strife. The view is presented from the side, and the environment is three-dimensional. Units, enemies and characters have animated actions, casting attacks, spells and more.

As they progress, the central characters will face a stronger opponent – Sephiroth. There are many side quests available with rewards or interesting backstories that expand the knowledge of the world. By exploring the environment, you gain access to a variety of regions. You can quickly travel between zones by car, submarine, airship or birds. Standard travel on foot is available.
