Hatchwell is a mix of role-playing game and adventure. The indie project uses two-dimensional pixel graphics stylized as console hits from the 90s. The soundtrack also imitates music from sixteen-bit video games. In this title, you need to explore the map, go down into dungeons (there are seven of them), solve puzzles, fight monsters, find secrets, defeat bosses. The bosses force you to memorize the patterns of their attacks. Some puzzles can make players rack their brains for a while. Also in the indie game, you need to look for items and upgrades that will allow you to get to previously inaccessible places and find alternative routes. The gameplay is reminiscent of old video games from the Legend of Zelda series.

The action takes place in a town called Hatchwell and its surroundings. Locals are going to celebrate the Day of Peace Celebration, which is dedicated to the brave hero who saved these lands a century ago. During the preparation for the holiday, strange things begin to happen in the surroundings. When events began to worsen every day, the mayor asked the main character to explore the area and find out the reasons for these phenomena. He will have to uncover a conspiracy. The open world consists of 7 parts. The environment changes depending on the time of day. The protagonist wanders around the locations not alone, but with a pet. There are 12 pets to choose from.
