Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders – a classic shooter in a fantasy world. The main character is an elf named Corvus, who fights the Serpent Riders – the killers of his people. To take revenge, the hero goes on a dangerous journey through the locations of a cursed city, an underwater kingdom, a devastated world, and hell. At the end, the house of the antagonist horseman D'Sparil awaits him. In addition to regular levels, secret ones were added, with the ability to go to them while exploring the area.

Despite the fact that Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders is made on the DOOM engine, it allows you to rotate the camera up and down. Weapons can be stored in inventory and upgraded using the Tome of Power. Among the weapons there are: a three-shot crossbow, a magic wand, combat gloves – 7 types in total. At each location, the player will be met by an army of enemies: gargoyles, sorcerers, golems, dragons and iron liches in the form of mini-bosses. To strengthen a character, artifacts are used; they last for a certain time, after which they disappear.

The plot is divided into 5 episodes of 9 levels, including 1 secret. There are 45 levels in total with the ability to complete them on different difficulties. Several additional locations and a “deadly combat” mode have been developed for the cooperative. To move on to the next round, you need to look for the door keys scattered throughout the map. There are no landmarks or navigation.
