We are talking about a house in which there are 1000 doors, and which is able to appear at various points in the world. At the same time, not everyone can enter there – access is open only for those who are able to communicate with spirits. As a protagonist, the author of Kate Reed stories acts here, who dreams of achieving success again. Here, she suddenly comes to visit the house, and she takes on the study of the secrets of the Lancasters family, opening more and more outlandish things over and over again.

In terms of gameplay, the House of 1000 Doors: Family Secrets project does not offer anything innovative. The gamer moves through sequentially built locations, searching for these items. This is the main, but far from the only mechanics that can be found here. There are also separate puzzles, which are based on different principles of action. For example, it is necessary to activate the mechanisms in the desired sequence in order to open the lock on the door or open the lock on your own, using the parts inside correctly. Each of the 90 locations has been worked out at a high level, so even the smallest objects can be distinguished. The list of things necessary for assembly is located at the bottom of the screen in a separate column, and as soon as the user finds the last part, the system immediately announces this. In some scenes there is a kind of dialogues, but for the most part the heroine speaks to herself, expressing thoughts about what she saw at the next location.
