Action Jouka no Monshou – Emblem of the Sacred Flame takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where global human conflict has left behind massive and horrific destruction. Humanity has used a vast arsenal of various weapons of mass destruction. After this, the remaining inhabitants have found a way to maintain communication with each other over long distances and have decided to stop using the path of violence that leads to nowhere.

The story tells that new ideas aimed at ending battles and conflicts in the future are an impossible undertaking. People tried to reduce emotions inside themselves in order to always remain “cold”, otherwise they will start to behave aggressively, and conflicts will occur between them. The main character has to find an answer to the question related to whether the inhabitants will be able to exist in peace and harmony in the terrible surrounding conditions, even if it leads to progress.

The central character lives in a city that grew out of the ruins of a destroyed world. It is a stronghold for the surviving people who decided to become a new level of evolution, calling themselves the Intelligent. Each resident began to use a drug that suppresses any emotions. Society became easy to manage through thought control. Each of them worked for the benefit of others and made their own contribution to development, based on their abilities and preferences.
