Killzone 2 – a direct continuation of the first part with improved gameplay, new mechanics and features. About two years have passed since the end of the previous part. The player learns that the Vektans have received the support of the ISA flotilla, the Interplanetary Strategic Alliance. Thanks to their help, the Vektan race managed to recapture their home planet, as well as launch a counter-offensive on the world of the invader – Helghan.

A Killzone 2 player takes control of Tomas Sevchenko, a member of Alpha Squad. The main character of the first part received the rank of colonel, and now commands operations in a strategic plan. The interface is practically empty; it does not display the amount of health of the central character or other scales. Only the current ammo and ability counter is shown. Pre-shot cinematics occur during battles, enhancing the visual experience.

Modes for multiplayer matches:

• Cleanup – divides the participants into two squads, which have to kill as many opponents as possible. After death, the fighter is reborn a couple of seconds later.
• Elimination – requires the attacking team to destroy a given subject of the opposing faction.
• Search and delivery – here gamers need to get through the opponent’s defense, get to the loudspeaker and deliver to their own territory.
• Capture and Hold – sets neutral points on the map. You need to take control over them and keep it until the set time expires.
