Megadimension Neptunia VIIR is an updated version of the original project, which now looks much more attractive. The changes concern not only the visual part, but also a more dynamic combat system, as well as the option of playing with a virtual reality system. The focus is on the last guardian of the so-called Zero Dimension – Uzume Tennuboshi, who is waging a war against dark forces. Sensing that the situation is not going well, she emits a cry for help, which reaches Neptune's central processor. Having received the signal, he leaves his dimension to join the battle. From this moment on, the joint adventure of the heroes begins, the main goal of which is victory over a common enemy.

At its core, Megadimension Neptunia VIIR is an adventure project, which equally shows both story inserts and active gameplay segments. The main characters move through designated locations, engaging in battles with opponents as they appear in the frame. At the same time, it is possible to switch between characters right during the battle. And due to the fact that each heroine is endowed with her own specific skills, the fighting style will be different. Some are good in hand-to-hand combat, while others increase their potential solely through special gadgets. At the same time, depending on the success of a particular battle, the heroine can receive an increase in experience, thereby increasing the initial characteristics and gaining some advantage over enemies. You can influence the plot by choosing phrases in dialogues (occasionally), as well as by answering questions from third-party units during cutscenes. When using virtual reality, this is done by shaking the head towards a specific answer (the phrases “yes” or “no”).
