Midtown Madness 2 increased the merits of his predecessor. These are still the same open-world arcade racing games, but with more content and improved graphics. Chicago was replaced by two cities – London and San Francisco. The vehicle fleet has doubled. The 10 cars from the original video game have been supplemented by the same number of new models. All cars from the first part are available immediately. And the rest of the vehicles need to be unlocked (some colorings for them too). There is the New Mini Cooper, Audi TT, Aston Martin DB7 Vantage and other classics. There is an opportunity to ride on a fire truck, taxi and bus (including a double-decker).

The number of modes in Midtown Madness 2 has increased slightly:

• Crash Course is an analogue of a career that offers you to pass the exam to become a stuntman;
• Circuit – circuit racing on 20 improvised tracks;
• Checkpoint – travel through checkpoints with the ability to choose your own route;
• Blitz is almost the same, but races are held against time;
• Cruise – free ride in two megacities;
• Cops & Robbers is a multiplayer capture-the-flag game where cops and bandits try to take gold and bring it back to their base.

In the game you can change the time of day and adjust the weather. They also allow you to regulate traffic density, as well as enable or disable cops under the control of artificial intelligence. The title allows you to ride alone, ride with bots, or organize competitions with live opponents. Multiplayer supports matches over the Internet and LAN. As in the first part, cars crash after an accident. They are also capable of breaking traffic lights. Pedestrians walk along virtual streets. They can be scared away, but not knocked down.
