Murdered: Soul Suspect tells a detective story in which users will find many plot twists and mysteries that need to be solved. The plot centers on a man named Ronan O'Connor. He is a detective investigating a series of brutal murders, where the victims always turn out to be young girls. After a lengthy investigation based on the descriptions of witnesses, Ronan arrives at the place where the “Ringer” (as the killer was nicknamed) can carry out another reprisal. A fight ensues, but the criminal throws the main character out of the window, after which he dies. But a series of strange events occur, after which O'Connor is returned to the world of the living to finish the work he started.

The main feature of Murdered: Soul Suspect is that after being reborn, the main character cannot interact with the environment. He is a ghost who nevertheless needs to continue his investigation. He sees how forensic scientists work, how police officers examine crime scenes and perform other actions, but cannot interact with them. Over time, he meets a girl named Joy, who can perceive him (others cannot), and decides to help him solve the case. The gameplay component retains all the usual concepts. The character moves through locations, which in most cases are crime scenes. Thanks to his new appearance, he can pass through walls and objects. Over time, obstacles will begin to appear from the other world (like a train that can hit the hero at speed). To bypass such obstacles, you can use teleportation at medium and short distances. In addition, you can read the thoughts of the living, as well as inhabit cats and, with their help, get to key points that are inaccessible in human form. In addition to story quests, there are also third-party quests, most of which involve multi-step solutions. By completing them, you can learn more about the history of the city and the fate of its inhabitants, forming a picture of the local world.
