Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden shows users an Earth that has experienced the aftermath of the Red Plague and a major war where nuclear weapons were used for the first time since 1945. Humanity is almost completely extinct, and the only representative of the pre-war era lives in a fortified settlement called the Ark. Ghouls walk on the surface of the planet, who were previously human, but have changed greatly under the influence of radiation. The gameplay will take place from the perspective of Selma, Dax and Bormin, who in appearance resemble humanoid animals.

The main location in Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is the so-called Zone, divided into several separate sectors. Each of them is open for exploration, and characters can enter freely. The heroes' task is to explore the visited places for the presence of valuable things and resources for the Ark. Each of the trio has their own characteristic skills, based on which you can build gameplay. For example, Dax has a long-range crossbow in his arsenal, and Bormin has shotguns, whose effectiveness is manifested in close-range combat. Battles with opponents take place in a turn-based system, and during each turn the player has the opportunity to change the camera view and viewing angle in every possible way. This helps on maps with a lot of cover. When you need to look out for opponents and try to target them in hard-to-reach spots. At the same time, it is not always necessary to engage in open battle. Sometimes you can do everything covertly, removing targets from the location before any of them suspect anything. Don’t forget about the opportunity to search the area for valuables. So, during your search you can find both pieces of equipment and new weapons suitable for one of the heroes.
