Nightmare x Onmyoji – Paradox of Forbiddance combines the genres of horror and fantasy. The title tells the story of Kuon Katsuragi, a young onmyoji who works with her father to exorcise evil spirits. One day, she meets a mysterious girl named Yui, who claims to be her sister. Yui tells Kuon that she is the reincarnation of an ancient princess who was cursed by a powerful demon lord. She also reveals that Kuon's father is not her real father, but a descendant of the same demon lord who kidnapped her in the past.

Kuon is shocked by these revelations, but decides to help Yui lift the curse and restore her memory. However, their journey is not easy: along the way they encounter many dangers and enemies. In addition, they meet two more girls – Rina and Mika, who have their own secrets and motives. Together they must overcome the challenges of the Prohibition Paradox – a twisted world where nightmares and reality collide.
