Papers, Please – an adventure in an alternative world. Gameplay focuses on the player's choices and actions, which introduces different story elements and endings. The event takes place in 1982 in the non-existent town of Artsotzke. The main character becomes a border control officer after winning the job lottery. The walkthrough offers you to go through many days of work of the central character.

The protagonist will need to check the documents of migrants trying to enter the territory of the state. The more you can serve visitors, the better your earnings per day. Credits are the local currency, and at the end of the day you can choose what to spend the money on. Along with the job won in the lottery for the unemployed, the character receives an 8th class apartment. There he lives with his family. Every day at the checkpoint, the gamer serves foreigners and fellow citizens who present their documents. The user has to decide whether to let other people into the territory or refuse them.

The walkthrough presents many difficult choices to make. Sometimes you will need to take responsibility for the stamps placed on documents. Every day begins with changes in the rules. The Ministry gives a list of what has changed at their checkpoint. For example, you cannot allow citizens from certain countries in, or, on the contrary, try not to refuse those who return to their homeland. At the start, the user receives only two stamps: allow and deny, but after that they will have access to a third list, as the “reason for the decision.”
