Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is a direct plot continuation of the first part. Here the player, controlling the guardian, spent some time in his own fortress. His special ability was the ability to see all living souls. But suddenly the god of light, having risen from a practically dead state, inhabits the statue next to the fortress. The building turns into ruins, almost all the inhabitants die, and part of the protagonist’s soul is stolen. Now, the main task becomes the search for the rebellious god and the return of one’s own soul.

The game “Pillars of Eternity 2: Dead Fire” is not limited to a single task. In addition to the key task, the character will have to cope with many other problems that regularly arise on the archipelago. Three factions are fighting for territory here: the kingdom of the natives, the trading company and the pirates. In order not to get into conflicts with any of them, you will have to regularly negotiate and carry out manipulations in order to get out of the situation on favorable terms for yourself. The quest system involves completing tasks of varying difficulty levels, ranging from murder contracts to multi-part missions with searching for things. At the same time, the final result of a particular task may change depending on the decisions made. This applies not only to the choice of phrases in dialogues, but also to the performance of specific mechanical actions. Actions in the future will shape the character and worldview of the hero, which is why you can form a completely new personality without following any guidelines.

In Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, the main means of transportation will be the ship. The gamer is free to chart his own course and take on quests in any order. In addition, it is absolutely not necessary to go on a journey alone. You can choose from 7 unique companions who will accompany the guardian throughout the entire time. The ship, as well as its crew, are customizable, and by increasing its characteristics, you can move around the game world faster, as well as cope with minor tasks faster.
