Tactical shooter Project IGI (Project IGI: I'm Going In) invites the player to take control of David Johnson, a special forces agent. He will have to carry out secret operations based on previously received information. The main character receives support from a specialist in computer programs, Anya. She helps him remotely, telling him about possible attacks from the enemy or open passages.

The passage begins on the territory of the Russian Federation, where the central character finds himself behind enemy lines. There he quietly makes his way to the protected base of Joseph Priboy. A terrorist is accused of stealing nuclear weapons, and David will need to rid the world of further threats from terrorists. Once at a given place, he receives the task of destroying air defense systems. After this, he moves to the airfield where the enemy was supposed to be.

During missions, the gamer will have to control Johnson, who mostly works alone. Much of the gameplay is focused on gunplay. The arsenal includes pistols, sniper and assault rifles with different rates of fire, magazines and armor-piercing capabilities. Often the main character will find himself in deadly situations where it is necessary to save his life from airstrikes, explosions of huge amounts of explosives and other dangers.
