Rayman is a 2D platformer set in a fictional world. The main character will have to free each imprisoned Electun and get to the minions of Mister Dark, destroying them in the six original dimensions. If Rayman manages to free the Electun, then the opportunity will open up to enter the antagonist's hideout and fight him. Otherwise, you will need to go through the levels again and get to the signs with an exclamation point.

Rayman gameplay requires the user to navigate platforms, overcome traps, and find secrets. Along the way you will come across many puzzles and places where you need to interact with mechanisms and solve logical sequences. There are blue Tinka elements scattered throughout each level. If the central character collects a hundred of these items, he will earn an extra life.

In the adventure, the protagonist will encounter many bonuses that will help him overcome deadly obstacles and fight opponents. As he progresses, Rayman gains unique abilities and equipment. Some skills will be given to him by the fairy Betilla, and other aspects will be unlocked by completing certain missions. The hero will have access to a telescopic punch, grab ledges, levers and rings, a propeller from wheels and fast acceleration.
