Reiner Knizia Yellow & Yangtze is a turn-based strategy. It is an adaptation of a board game. The developers tried to transfer most of the content from the original and adapted it into a digital version. The project uses an ancient Chinese setting. Events unfold on a map divided into hexagons. There are 7 cities on it that are at war with each other. In the video game, you need to expand your influence, build pagodas to raise your prestige, obtain resources to support the army, fight with your neighbors, and incite other peasants into a popular revolt.

In Reiner Knizia Yellow & Yangtze you can play alone with bots or fight with other users online. Participants compete for points. They are needed for 4 areas of influence: trade, administration, military power and agriculture. You can mine gold to improve the least pumped industry. In one turn, each user can perform two actions. Neutral users can influence other people's confrontations.

There are 5 types of units in the game:

• Farmers – cultivate land on the banks of two rivers (Yellow and Yangtze);
• Craftsmen – create the culture of their dynasty and inspire their fellow citizens;
• Governors – suppress popular uprisings and help maintain peace in the state;
• Soldiers – defend their empire and seize territories of neighboring countries;
• Merchants – acquire the resources necessary for the prosperity of the homeland.
