Plot River, Carry Me Away tells about the ruler of a kingdom who finds himself on the run and begins his journey on a sea vessel. He escapes from the castle due to the impending threat, and then sets off down the water channel, creating a transport with his own hands. He travels along the river and learns about what life exists outside of his palace. An unsuccessful battle with his brother for the throne forces him to leave his native land and go on an eternal journey.

Gameplay focuses on exploring the environment and interacting with interactive objects using a point and click system. As he progresses, the main character is immersed in his own memories and continues his journey, learning more about the world around him. The plot is distinguished by its dark and depressing narrative, telling about the last hope, betrayal, love and death.

The gameplay lasts no more than an hour of real time and invites the gamer to overcome a long journey, starting it on a boat. After arriving on land, the main character continues on his own feet and interacts with previously unknown elements of nature. A meditative walkthrough provides the user with only a plot narrative and a small number of interactive moments. The setting is designed in the style of Slavic fantasy. The graphics are stylized in ethnic style, and the project has original instrumental music.
