Sea Dogs: Caribbean Tales continues the plot of the previous parts of the franchise, changing the main characters. This time the protagonists are the children of Nicholas Sharpe, the central figure of the first game – brother Blaze and sister Beatrice. One of them receives half of a mysterious card from a family friend. It should lead straight to my father's hidden treasures. Having found out this, the protagonist collects his belongings and sets off to gain fame and experience in order to eventually get to a kind of family inheritance.

In the game, also known as Corsairs 3, there are symbolically only 3 types of gameplay:

• On the global map. Here the character's ship comes under control, moving around the Caribbean islands in accelerated time. Along the way, you can visit ports and run into battles and random events.
• Swimming in real time. The format is similar to the previous one, only slowed down and with more detailed control over the ship. There are water battles between ships.
• Traveling on your feet. Personally controlling the hero from a third person – dialogues, exploring locations, fighting with swords and pistols, boarding.

The customization and role-playing element goes beyond choosing Blaze or Beatrice as a playable character. Initially, you can join the flag of one of 5 factions: France, Holland, England, Spain or the pirate community. As you progress, you destroy and change ships and equipment. In addition, the hero gains experience and upgrades his skills, which in theory changes the style of play. The basis of the adventure is free swimming with rare secondary tasks and a sudden continuation of the plot after overcoming the development ceiling.
