Serious Sam 2 consists of 40 levels where the protagonist will face both regular opponents and bosses. Some of them will be easy to defeat, but some will have to be tinkered with. Advanced gamers may find the battles here less dynamic than in the first part. The fight with Glavgad will now take place in a separate episode.

There are several vehicles available in Serious Sam 2: a fire-breathing dinosaur, a tank, and others. The weapon arsenal offers many models, including the Uzi, revolver, space pistol, circular saw and rocket launcher. Guns are useful not only in battle, but also for destroying the surrounding world: the gamer can remove an interfering tree, blow up a house or container. Sometimes you will have to lift and drag objects, as in the stage with bricks and the door.

Several maps are available for missions, for example, jungle, city, caves, village. The game has 5 levels of difficulty from Tourist to Serious. On the journey, the protagonist is accompanied by the AI ​​”Netriska”, which will voice tasks and give advice. The hero and the computer will also be able to talk and exchange jokes. In between levels, story cutscenes are shown.
