Shattered Planet is a simplified roguelike with an isometric view. Locations in it are generated randomly each time. Loot, the order in which enemies and events appear, also change randomly. Death here is permanent. In case of death, you will have to start the race again, but on an already changed terrain. This mechanic is explained by the plot. The user controls the clone. On behalf of the Galactic Union, he helps the alien with the study of a fractured planet, the surface of which is constantly changing. If the hero dies, the player loses all collected loot. But he saves the found crystals and scrap. They are needed for metaprogression. After the loss, the alien sends another clone to attack. The scientist periodically gets in touch with his ward and often jokes.

Shattered Planet has an exploration mode, 3 types of scenarios with varying difficulties, and daily missions. Moving through the levels and fighting enemies takes place step by step. The user walks first, and then all the monsters on the screen. During a turn, you can take a step one cell, use an item, or attack. To complete the stage you need to get to the teleport. This must be done as quickly as possible, as corruption is spreading throughout the area. If you can’t reach the portal, you can simply jump into the abyss and land on the next map at the cost of some of your health. Melee and ranged weapons, helmets, first aid kits and other items are scattered throughout the locations. Sometimes there are events. They are similar to short text quests, where the gamer's choice leads to a buff or debuff. As you progress, new bodies for clones (analogues of classes), pets and types of equipment are unlocked.
