Silent Hill 4: The Room tells the story of Henry trying to find a way out of a locked apartment. The event takes place in Ashfield, a town located near Silent Hill. The main character will move between the real and fictional world, a dimension where he meets his dreams and nightmares. Henry takes advantage of the emerging tunnels in his apartment, ending up in previously unseen locations.

In the gameplay of Silent Hill 4, the user will visit vast areas such as an abandoned hospital, a water prison, a forest, a subway and ordinary buildings. He gets to all places through tunnels that appear in his apartment. The central character encounters bloodthirsty monsters and killers, trying not to become a victim and finding answers to his questions. An innovation in the fourth part was a new navigation system, originating from the first person.

The gamer can use melee and ranged weapons. As you progress, new items with increased characteristics appear. At the start of the passage you will have access to a water pipe, a bat, a knife, an axe, and then to a stun gun, a pickaxe and others. Ranged weapons include a revolver, pistol and SMG. Some things have a strength scale; with prolonged use, they break and become unusable. To save, you need to use the diary in the protagonist’s apartment.
