Slime Rancher 2 continues the story of Beatrix LeBeau. Events still unfold in the Far, Far Range (Outland). However, now the heroine’s adventures take place on a different territory – Rainbow Island, which is surrounded by the Slime Sea and consists of different biomes. The girl will have to unravel the ancient secrets of these lands and reveal the true purpose of this isolated territory. She will also explore new locations, meet previously unseen creatures, contribute to the development of slime science and earn a large number of newbucks. This currency can be spent on creating and improving equipment, as well as expanding your possessions.

Like the first part, Slime Rancher 2 crosses a farm simulator with adventure and action. The sequel also uses 3D cartoon graphics and a first-person perspective. The gameplay is similar to that in the original project. The adventurer is once again breeding slimes. These creatures produce a resource called plort. Many goods are produced from it on Earth. So corporations send people to distant worlds to build, manage and develop ranches, and to mine these slime pieces. The jelly-like and rolling creatures themselves differ in shape, color and behavior. Among them there are both friendly individuals and hostile ones. The heroine is equipped with a vacpak – a vacuum backpack that can suck in local flora and fauna and then shoot it out. Using the device, she catches slimy inhabitants and collects the grown crop.
