Sonic Mania sends the player to travel with an anthropomorphic hedgehog and his group of friends on a huge Angel Island. According to the plot, the guys saw the Ruby of Illusion on the separated continent. The jewel has enormous power, allowing you to control the time loop and the world as a whole. The antagonist Dr. Robotnik has other plans for this stone. Eggman, along with his robotic minions, managed to take the energy source to control the entire universe. You will need to change the plans of the villain and his company, going through a large number of tests.

In Sonic: Mania you will visit 12 different areas. It is possible to play for 2 characters at once. The duo is a blue hedgehog and an orange fox, Tails. In addition, you can play as Ray, who is a flying squirrel, Mighty the armadillo, and Knuckles, who is an echidna. You will need to go through 2D spaces, fighting with a large number of robots that can fly. You will need to move in a ball, accelerating and doing combos. You can unlock bonus levels by earning more points. Opponents will be piranhas that jump out of the water, crabs with their claws, wasps and other enemy units.

Several additional game modes are presented:

• Blue Spheres – the main goal is to collect blue circles, ignoring the red ones, which will harm the protagonist.
