IN STAR WARS: TIE Fighter Special Edition the user takes on the role of a recruit in the imperial army. He is a member of an elite team that, under the command of Darth Vader himself, takes part in dangerous missions in the vastness of space, maintaining a level of security. And so, once again, bandits and marauders disturbed the peace in the Empire. Troops are called in to quell another riot in the name of law and order. And the main character, taking control of his own starship, goes into battle with the villains to put an end to the lawlessness once and for all.

Despite such a detailed plot, the gameplay of STAR WARS: TIE Fighter Special Edition is based on a fairly simple concept. Before each flight there is a briefing where the essence of the mission is explained, as well as the final goal (most often – the liquidation of enemy ships). In addition, there is an option to select the difficulty level, which determines the damage received and the skill of piloting enemy units. They can be either aces or simpletons who can be destroyed in just a few hits without much effort. The dashboard displays key indicators of the device (strength, engine power and flight time). In addition, if any object falls into the sight, information about it is immediately displayed on the main screen. A 3D model appears there with a full description. And if the same object receives damage, the gamer will receive information about the state of the protective barriers and overall strength. However, the destruction process itself looks quite simple, without any special effects.
