Starsector is a role-playing adventure game in a completely open world, developed by the indie company Fractal Softworks. The user is invited to explore the vast space, most of the locations in which are generated randomly with the help of artificial intelligence, which has a database from which assets are taken. This must be done with a free isometric camera, which can be zoomed in and out, and also changed the angle of inclination for a more convenient view at one time or another.

The storyline is rather mediocre and small, the main emphasis is on finding adventures on your own. The movement takes place on a general map, but when armies clash, the action moves to a smaller map, where you need to place your own units. The gamer controls only the ship of his virtual protégé; the rest of the army can only give orders.

The map is divided between 7 factions:

• Luddic Path are the most radical fanatics, thirsting for violence.
• Pirates are a bunch of thieves, mercenaries, marauders, terrorists and other bandits.
• Hegemony is the largest faction with enormous influence. They take the number of spaceships, not their quality.
• The Persean League are rebels against the established Hegemonic rule over most territories.
• Sindian Diktat – fuel producers who split from the Hegemony.
• Tri-Tachyon – have the most advanced technologies and sell them for serious money. The most powerful fleet in the game.
• Luddic Church – Church of Galactic Redemption. They blame technology for all the existing ills, so they agitate for a return to the roots.
