The caravans have no choice but to leave their native lands and set off on a long journey. The plot will take players along the life path of several of them. They will go to certain goals, enter settlements, take care of supplies, communicate and find adventures for themselves. Every decision made entails a chain of events and consequences. For example, a rash choice on the third day will show its fatal result on the tenth; unaccounted for two steps on the battlefield can cost the life of a warrior.

From the first steps in The Banner Saga, you develop the habit of doubting, suspecting, not trusting everything and always being ready for sacrifices, compromise, and bad luck. There are fame points that are spent on obtaining the necessary benefits and leveling up heroes. Essentially, quests are implemented through interactive messages with mandatory decision making. The combat aspect is presented in the form of a turn-based board game. There are not many characteristics and parameters, the controls are simple, but this does not make the battles easy. Sometimes, by leaving a weak enemy alive, you can avoid a blow from a strong one. Colorful graphics, music, an interesting plot, a well-developed world, depth of characters, everything creates a pleasant atmosphere that can drag you in for hours.
