City of Lost Children is an adaptation of the cult classic film. The plot begins with the story of a mad scientist Krank, who does not see dreams at night, which is why he quickly ages. The mad doctor created special cyclopes that kidnap children in order to extract dreams and visions from them. The sinister device leaves no memory for the children, while Krank enjoys minimal doses of what he wants. He wants to stop rapid aging using technological equipment and kidnapping people.

In The City of Lost Children, you take control of the main character Miette, who moves around the vast city and completes tasks. Most missions are monotonous and offer the same actions, only in different environments. Many quests boil down to the fact that the user will need to move an item from one place to another. After completing all story missions, active advancement of the story begins and variety in assignments appears.

Some plot points are conveyed through cut scenes. The protagonist encounters minor characters, participates in dialogues and tries to solve the problem of the disappearance of children together with them. Moving around the territory takes place in a horror style, but without sharp frightening elements. Only a tense atmosphere and mysterious sounds happening around. Miette will have to prevent further kidnappings and save everyone she can.
