The Dark Dwellers is a dark fantasy in which the hero is a nameless warrior. He was born among the Mortals, a tribe that explores the darkest dungeons, exterminating the undead. Making his way through the labyrinths, the hero will overcome all sorts of obstacles and traps that he will encounter along the way. There is almost no light underground, and some levels are illuminated only due to the dim glow from the character. Enemies are hiding in the shadows and are ready to attack at any moment. But the hero is not so simple; blood magic helps him in battles.

The gameplay in The Dark Dwellers invites you to take part in battles using melee weapons and magical combat techniques. In addition to attacks, the character will be able to use shields, which will reduce incoming damage. While exploring the levels, you can find secrets in which various bonuses will be hidden. Also, by receiving game points, the hero will have access to expanding his arsenal. Upgrading your abilities depends on the experience gained while passing the level.

In addition to ordinary opponents, there is a boss at the end of the location. It has a set of unique characteristics and abilities. The main task of the protagonist will be to save his soul from death. He needs to get out of the hole, which is dragging him deeper into darkness. Also, there are soulslick elements in the game mechanics. There are traps such as falling spears or obstacles such as gaps, dead ends and cliffs.
